TOVP 2.1

The official app for the Temple of the Vedic Planetarium (TOVP) serves as a digital gateway to a significant project of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), founded by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada.

This tradition traces its roots back to Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, regarded as an incarnation of Lord Krishna, who taught a method of devotion through the chanting of God's names. This practice is encapsulated in the mantra: "Hare Krishna Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna Hare Hare, Hare Rama Hare Rama, Rama Rama Hare Hare," which is meant to foster love for the Divine during the challenging age of Kali.

ISKCON Mayapur, established in 1972 by Srila Prabhupada in the birthplace of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, serves as the World Headquarters of ISKCON. The year 2022 marks not only the grand opening of the TOVP but also the 50th anniversary of ISKCON Mayapur.

The vision for Mayapur is to evolve into a fully developed spiritual city and the epicenter for Gaudiya Vaishnavism. Currently attracting around 6 million pilgrims annually, the opening of the TOVP is anticipated to increase this number significantly, potentially reaching 25 million visitors. In preparation for this expected influx, initiatives by the West Bengal Department of Tourism and government are underway. Planned developments include new boat docks along the Ganga, improved road infrastructure, and heliports to enhance accessibility.
